The Lands of Man
Man has traditionally dwelt in three major regions, now known as the Junean Holds, the Ahrimid Empire (or its former extent), and the Kingdom of the Sword (or what lands it once ruled).
Kingdom of the Sword
The Kingdom of the Sword consists of 7 major subregions:
- The Ascade: landing site of the original settlers, the oldest holds of Man.
- Uldenor: an ancient kingdom in the highlands, original seat of the Kingdom.
- Tirnor: the lowlands of the continent, long home to industrious, agrarian folk.
- Dennoth: a fertile region of dark forests, conquered from elves long ago.
- Kurland: a vast steppeland, long untouched by civilization
- Obrith: once the frontier of mankind, Obrith was conquered from dwarves in the Great War, and became prosperous during the high age of Oathkeep
- The Morrowwood: ceded to Oathkeep as free land, not exclusive to any Great Race, the Morrowwood was home to Oathkeep itself.
The eastern border of the Kingdom is the Endless Sea.
On the north, the Kingdom is bordered by The Crowns, a moderately-tall mountain range with a few active volcanoes (though there have been no eruptions in almost a thousand years).
To the south, the Kingdom borders the Ahrimid Empire. Most of that border is a literal line in the sand, an ever-shifting boundary in arid scrub and desert, ultimately unimportant to either side.
To the west, the Kingdom borders the Dwarven lands, divided by the great river Menendîn at The Gates. It also borders part of the Misted Vale, a region of the High Forest, though the borders of the Morrowwood are rather obvious, as it is eternally winter in that sacred forest.
